Category
Plant Extracts
Effect
An extract from the leaves of rocket (arugula), a Brassicaceae plant. Used to help keep skin healthy
Concentration
Unconfirmed. No public data on human use levels and no use-concentration survey (e.g. CIR) have been found
Effect
An extract from the leaves of rocket (arugula), a Brassicaceae plant. Used to help keep skin healthy
Mechanism
Contains flavonol glycosides such as quercetin, isorhamnetin and kaempferol. Cell-culture reports describe activation of PPAR-alpha with increased filaggrin expression, increased cornified envelope formation in keratinocytes, and antioxidant activity. CosIng lists its function as SKIN CONDITIONING
Typical concentration
Unconfirmed. No public data on human use levels and no use-concentration survey (e.g. CIR) have been found
Onset
Unconfirmed. No human study has been found
Cautions
The evidence remains at the in vitro (cell culture) level; human efficacy and safety data are unconfirmed. Some papers do not clearly state the plant part used, so the material may not match the 'leaf extract' of the labelling name. It is a Brassicaceae plant, and IgE-mediated reactions after ingestion have been reported as case reports (sensitisation data for topical use are unconfirmed)
