Mechanism
A semi-solid hydrocarbon mixture that forms an occlusive film on the stratum corneum, greatly suppressing TEWL and creating an environment for barrier recovery.

Depends on the level used (a few % to high loading).
Onset
The occlusive effect is immediate upon application.
Cautions
Mind the stickiness and a sense of pore clogging; use highly refined grades.
